The reference 425 — affectionately known as the "Tegolino," meaning little roof tile in Italian, for its distinctive curved rectangular case — is one of Patek Philippe's most elegant vintage propositions. Produced from the mid-1930s through the late 1950s, it represents the Geneva maison at its most architecturally ambitious: a dress watch conceived as a miniature objet d'art for the wrist.
The elongated 18k yellow gold case houses calibre 9"90, a slim manually wound movement of 18 jewels, impeccably finished as one would expect. The silvered dial with applied yellow gold indices is crisp and legible, triple-signed in the Patek tradition — dial, case, and movement all bearing the Geneva hallmark. The whole thing sits on its original leather strap with the original buckle.
This example presents in excellent condition — remarkable for a piece of this age. A true collector's watch, the kind that rewards those who look beyond the obvious references and appreciate what Patek was doing long before the Nautilus existed.
