Introduced in 1977, it abandoned the round Oyster case in favour of an integrated bracelet and angular, integrated case architecture that owed more to the design language of the Royal Oak era than to Rolex's own tradition. In 18k yellow gold, it is unambiguously bold.

Reference 19018 carries one of the most remarkable dial options Rolex ever offered: burlwood. Cut from the gnarly, figured growths that form on certain trees, each burlwood dial is by definition unique — no two share the same pattern of swirling grain, dark voids, and warm brown tones. Against the yellow gold case and the linear architecture of the Oysterquartz, the organic irregularity of the wood creates a tension that is genuinely compelling. It is a dial that has no equivalent in the catalogue.
