Baltic represents one of the more compelling stories in contemporary watchmaking: a young French brand built on the conviction that genuinely vintage-inspired design didn't have to come with a vintage price tag, or vintage reliability problems. The Bicompax Chronograph was its flagship: a manually wound two-register chronograph that wore its 1960s influences openly, executed with a build quality that punched well above its origins.
This "Panda" configuration is one of the most enduringly popular colour schemes in chronograph history, evoking the same visual drama that made certain Paul Newman-era Daytonas so coveted. The bold Arabic 12 and 6, the bicompax layout with its 30-minute and running seconds registers, and the red "Bicompax Manuel" text all combine into a dial that feels immediately familiar yet entirely its own.
This particular example belongs to a limited run of 100 pieces, and the Bicompax line itself has since been discontinued, making this a genuinely closed chapter of Baltic's catalogue rather than a current production piece.
The steel case houses a manually wound chronograph movement, with the chronograph pushers flanking the crown in a configuration that echoes the era it draws from.
This example comes as a full set and presents in very good condition, having been worn but well cared for. An increasingly scarce entry point into the panda dial chronograph aesthetic, without the six-figure price tag that vintage examples now command.
