This tea is produced in a garden located at approximately 700 metres above sea level on Wu Dong Mountain in Phoenix, at Gui Zhu Lake Village. The tea trees are around 50 years old, considered old trees and comparable in quality to traditional Lao Cong (old-tree Phoenix Dan Cong).

As its name suggests, Mi Tao is known for its naturally sweet aroma. “Mi Tao” translates to Honey Peach, a name that accurately reflects its exceptionally sweet and inviting fragrance. While its aroma shares certain similarities with Mi Lan Xiang, the two teas come from different cultivars. Mi Tao Xiang is made from the Xiang Dong cultivar, whereas Mi Lan Xiang is primarily produced from the Bai Ye cultivar.

To enhance its character, the producer applies a deeper fermentation (enzymatic oxidation) together with a slightly extended charcoal-roasting process. This results in a tea with a beautiful yellow-orange liquor and a rich, full-bodied, and smooth flavour profile.

In addition to the lychee-like essence layered atop the sweet, fruity note of fresh peaches, it also evokes flavors reminiscent of strawberry jam and a nectar-like sweetness.

Thanks to the relatively mature age of the tea trees, the aftertaste lingers, making it an excellent pairing with desserts.
