Matka silk is traditionally crafted in eastern India from pierced mulberry cocoons, which are hand-spun into thick, textured yarn instead of being reeled into smooth filaments. This gives the fabric its signature slubbed, organic look and durable feel, perfect for quilts. Woven on traditional looms in small batches, Matka silk is made through slow, skillful craftsmanship, giving each piece a unique, exclusive character. Details are finished in kantha handstitch.
