The first Colt SP-1 rifles used during Vietnam did not have a forward assist on the upper and were of the M16 style. This Bolt Carrier is of the same "Slickside" design with no forward assist notches on the side.

Carrier made with 8620 Steel and bolt made from 9310 Vac-Arc Premium Carburizing Steel which has a high core hardness and high fatigue strength unlike standard Hot/cold rolled 9310 steels. The nitride coating is the strongest plate available, it's the same protective finish that's used in gun barrels and CNC tool protection.
