Ballistic panel

Both the Standard and Prestige tiers carry an HG2/IIIA rating, covering common handgun calibers from 9mm through .44 Magnum. The panel is constructed from flexible soft armor material — thin enough to disappear inside a bag yet dense enough to meet the HG2/IIIA threat threshold. The nylon facing on both sides protects the ballistic core and keeps the panel sliding cleanly in and out of bag compartments.

This insert does not stop rifle-caliber threats. HG2/IIIA-rated soft armor is designed for handgun and shotgun pellet threats; it is not a substitute for a hard plate rated Level III or IV against rifle rounds.

Removability and conversion

The insert is a standalone panel — not sewn into any bag — so it transfers between bags freely. Move it from a backpack to a briefcase to a purse without tools or modification. The MOLLE variant features a Velcro face on one side, allowing compatible hook-and-loop pouches (sold separately) to attach directly to the panel for modular organization. The standard nylon-on-both-sides variant presents a clean, low-profile surface on each face.

Capacity and organization

The three available sizes cover the most common bag interior dimensions. The Small (7" x 10") fits slim crossbody bags, clutches, and smaller purses. Construction

The outer shell is nylon on both sides in the standard configuration, or MOLLE-webbed with a Velcro face on one side in the MOLLE variant. Both configurations ship in black. Can this backpack insert be shipped to my state?

It depends on your state. Soft body armor cannot be shipped to New York or Connecticut due to state restrictions. Under 18 U.S.C. § 931, anyone with a federal felony conviction for a crime of violence is prohibited from purchasing or possessing body armor. What NIJ level is the ballistic panel?

Both the Standard and Prestige variants are rated HG2/IIIA. Under the legacy NIJ 0101.06 nomenclature this is Level IIIA; under the current NIJ 0101.07 nomenclature it is HG2. Both designations describe the same handgun threat threshold, covering calibers up to and including .44 Magnum.

Will this panel stop rifle rounds?

No. HG2/IIIA-rated soft armor is not designed to stop rifle-caliber threats. Rifle protection requires a hard plate rated at least Level III. This insert is rated for handgun and shotgun pellet threats only.
