The Guardian Gear NIJ Level IV Rifle-Rated Armor is a polyethylene/ceramic composite hard armor plate tested under NIJ-0101.06 Level IV body armor standards by H.P. White and Chesapeake Testing Laboratories. It stops at least three shots of caliber .30, 166-grain, AP M2 ammunition — the NIJ Level IV threat standard. Available in two standard sizes (10x12 and 11x14) with a multi-curve option for the 10x12, the plate is manufactured in the USA and carries a 5-year warranty.
Guardian Gear constructs this plate from a polyethylene/ceramic composite — a material pairing that combines the hardness and projectile-defeating properties of ceramic with the structural backing of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. The ceramic layer covers 100% of the plate surface, so there are no gaps in strike-face protection. The composite structure is crack-resistant, allowing the plate to absorb and distribute the energy of multiple bullet impacts without catastrophic structural failure.
The plate is tested under NIJ-0101.06 Level IV standards at H.P. White Laboratory and Chesapeake Testing Laboratories. It withstands a minimum of three rounds of caliber .30, 166-grain, AP M2 ammunition — the hardest rifle threat in the NIJ 0101.06 hierarchy. Flexible composite rims at the plate edge prevent rigid edge cracking and allow natural body movement during dynamic physical activity.
The 10x12 plate is available in Single Curve or Multi Curve. Multi Curve follows both the vertical and horizontal contours of the torso for a closer fit against the chest and back. The 11x14 plate is available in Single Curve only. Both sizes fit standard plate carrier pockets sized for 10x12 or 11x14 plates. If you are unsure whether your existing carrier will accommodate a specific curve profile, contact us before ordering.
Both sizes follow SAPI/standard plate pocket dimensions used across most plate carriers on the market. The 10x12 Multi Curve option seats flush against the chest wall and works particularly well in form-fitting carriers with curved plate bays. The 11x14 Single Curve suits larger-frame wearers or carriers with extended front plate pockets. Flexible rims at the plate edge reduce hard-edge contact during movement. If you need help confirming fitment with a specific carrier, contact us.
This plate cannot be shipped to New York or Connecticut due to state body armor restrictions. It is subject to US export regulations. Under 18 U.S.C. § 931, any person with a federal felony conviction for a crime of violence is prohibited from purchasing or possessing body armor.
This plate is tested to defeat a minimum of three rounds of .30 caliber, 166-grain, AP M2 ammunition under NIJ-0101.06 Level IV standards. Level IV is the highest threat level in the NIJ 0101.06 hierarchy and covers armor-piercing rifle rounds at that caliber and grain weight.
The plate is tested under NIJ-0101.06 Level IV standards at H.P. White and Chesapeake Testing Laboratories. To confirm current NIJ Compliant Products List status for this specific product, check the NIJ CPL at nij.ojp.gov.
Single Curve bends along one axis — typically the vertical — and works well in most standard plate carrier pockets. Multi Curve bends on two axes, contouring to both the horizontal and vertical profile of the torso. Multi Curve generally sits closer to the body and reduces plate shift during movement. The Multi Curve option is available only in the 10x12 size for this plate.
Two 10x12 plates weigh a combined 11.0 lbs. Two 11x14 plates weigh a combined 15.7 lbs. Add your plate carrier shell weight to get total system weight. A standard front/back two-plate setup in 10x12 is the more common choice for wearers who prioritize mobility.
Guardian Gear backs this plate with a 5-year warranty. For questions about warranty claims or specific storage recommendations, contact us directly.
