A very high quality tortoiseshell veneered tea caddy dating from the reign of George III. The top of this exquisite 18th Century tea caddy is surrounded by walnut banding and ebony stringing. The tea caddy has a silver drop handle and ivory escutcheon with key and working lock. The lid, with original hinges, lifts to reveal two removable canisters. There has been some early restoration to the caddy, this has been very well done and is not easily visible. We have shown this in the photographs. The quality of this tea caddy is outstanding and it was obviously the property of a very discerning person. A very special piece to stand alone as a decorative item or add to a collection.
