Elvin Jones
Description:
One of the greatest drummers in jazz history, Elvin Jones recorded this completely unreleased live recording in 1967, just two weeks after John Coltrane's death, at a club called Pookie's Pub in New York City. It is also noteworthy that the band played songs from the album such as "Launcher Rita" and "M.E.", one month after the recording of the classic album "Heavy Sounds" released on the Impulse label in 1968. Also, Larry Young guested on "Gingerbread Boy," playing piano instead of organ.
