Tokyo Philharmonic Chorus
Description:
The sudden death of Hikaru Hayashi (1931-2012) on January 5, 2012, caused great sadness and shock in many quarters and reminded us anew of his immeasurable achievements and influence. This is a live recording of the Tokyo Philharmonic Chorus' 55th Anniversary Special Concert (June 19, 2011), which is still fresh in our minds. The program was the complete "Japanese Lyric Songs" arranged by Hayashi between 1964 and 1980 in response to requests from the Tokyo Philharmonic Chorus. The songs were carefully selected to shed new light on the original songs without losing their charms, and each song shines like a jewel thanks to the playing of Hikaru Hayashi himself and the singing of Tohcon, who has commissioned and performed many works by Hayashi. Includes Hikaru Hayashi's own voice (story) on the day of the concert. Fontek
