Aquamarine is the blue variety of the mineral Beryl.  It is classed as a semi-precious stone and is very popular in jewellery.

In the Middle Ages, Aquamarine was prized as the most superior material for fortune telling crystal balls, whilst in 1377, William Langland praised the gemstone as an antidote for poison.

Aquamarine was traditionally called the treasure of mermaids and sailors would carry it on their journeys in the belief that it would protect them while travelling over water.

Aquamarine is a very calming stone. It heals emotional trauma, helping to achieve closure.  It brings peace, calms the heart and helps to clear the mind.

In Eastern metaphysics, Aquamarine is associated with the Throat Chakra and is used to overcome the fear of public speaking.  It aids communication, helping you to speak the truth and is especially good for sensitive people.
