Threat rating and coverage area

Each ballistic level addresses a distinct threat envelope. Level IIIA resists rounds up to .44 Magnum, covering .38 Special, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, 9mm, .357 Magnum, .357 SIG, and .44 Magnum. Level III extends that coverage to rifle threats, stopping 7.62×51 M80 Ball (FMJ) and 7.62×39 MSC Ball in addition to all handgun threats. Level III+ adds 5.56 M855 Green Tip resistance on top of Level III coverage. Level IV — the highest available — defeats .30-06 M2 AP armor-piercing rounds along with all lower rifle and handgun threats; this level typically ships with an optional trolley due to carry weight.

The ballistic viewport carries the same rated protection as the shield body at whichever level is selected. All four levels are tested up to their stated ballistic resistance rating, and every dimension — half-body, full-body, or custom — is available at any protection level.

Weight and mobility

The half-body shield measures 35.5" × 19.5" (90 cm × 50 cm) and suits single-officer carry during patrol operations or vehicle deployment. The full-body shield measures 47" × 23.5" (120 cm × 50 cm) and provides torso-to-ankle coverage for dynamic entries and fixed-post defense. Level IV configurations are heavy enough that EDI-USA recommends pairing them with an available trolley for extended deployments. A shooters-cut profile is available with or without the ballistic window.

Viewport and design features

An optional ballistic viewport is included at no additional cost and matches the ballistic rating of the shield body — Level IIIA through Level IV. Handle systems come in left-hand, right-hand, or ambidextrous configurations; U-handle and H-handle (horizontal) systems are available on request. Custom front inscriptions in English or other languages are supported at any order quantity. Lateral lights powered by rechargeable batteries can be factory-installed or added in the field. All shields are compatible with FoxFury® tactical shield flashlights, which attach via removable 3M® Velcro or permanent mounting during production.
