Masao Koga Handmade Grand Concert Classical Guitar 1974

This was the top model in the Koga lineup.  Unlike most Koga guitars which were made by Zen-On Gakki, this model was most likely made by Ryoji Matsuoka.  Noticeable is the headstock.  It has all the characteristics and features of the top of the range Matsuoka concert guitar model.

It plays wonderfully.  The action is superb and easy to play.

The tone is loud and clear.  beautiful sweet treble and deep clear basses with plenty of sustain and projection.  This is one of the best guitars in my collection.  It's a regrettable sale s it's very hard to come by, I have never seen another one of these on the market.

Wikipedia.org

Masao Koga (古賀 政男Koga Masao, November 18, 1904 – July 25, 1978) was a Japanese composer and guitarist known for creating melodies, and a pioneer of Japanese popular music. He was regarded as a notable figure for establishing the genre enka, though Koga considered that he was a ryūkōka composer.[1] He wrote numerous songs for Ichiro Fujiyama and Hibari Misora, and his work has been featured in various films, including Come See the Paradise, and Memoirs of a Geisha. He was the first president of the Japan Composer's Association from 1958 to 1978. A museum was built in Shibuya to honor his achievements, and visitors to the Koga Masao Museum of Music (古賀政男音楽博物館Koga Masao Ongaku Hakubutsukan) are able to view exhibits, and memorabilia featuring his work.[2]
